Editor’s Note: I have been interviewing and publishing the stories of romance scam victims for a few years now. I must admit, it’s mostly a thankless job, but sometimes I get someone who really appreciates what I’m trying to do. This is one of those occasions…
The Story of Astrid’s Neighbour in Sweden
Hi, my name is Astrid. I’m from Sweden. I just want to thank you so much. My appreciation for what you do cannot be described in words.
The stories you share saved my neighbour. Let me explain…
My neighbour was in love with a man she met online. He asked her if he could send her a package with his personal items. She asked me what to do about it. Before you know it, she received an email from the courier company confirming the delivery procedure and asking for her address.
I didn’t know what to say to her, so I Googled the courier company and found stories of other women who fell prey to romance scammers.
I hope everyone who shared their stories with us can heal from the effects of being scammed. I feel for them. But I must let you know that you saved my neighbour’s life by writing about this global problem. So, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Best Regards,
Astrid, Sweden
