Find Love in the Country You Live in, Not Abroad: Story of Mark
This is the story of Mark, who was coerced into sending money to a beautiful American soldier.

I found out the hard way not to send money overseas.
I fell in love with a lady who said she was in the military. We talked for about a month, and I asked her to send me some photos of her and fellow soldiers. She sent a photo of herself holding my name. It seemed fake, but I didn’t care.
We had been talking on Google Chat (formerly known as Google Hangouts). I asked her if we could talk on Webcam. She said it was getting fixed. I said, “Well, can you call me?” She said, “We are not allowed to have phones while on a mission.”
She wanted me to send more money as they won’t allow access to money or their bank details which was crap. I checked up on it, and she lied.
She said she was in a base in Iraq. Later on, I checked and found out that there were only British soldiers in Iraq, not American. She lied to me again.
One day, she told me she wasn’t safe and wanted to get out of there. She was so demanding, asking, “When can you send the rest of the money so she could buy a ticket to get out of there?”
The deal was $1200 for the ticket, so I sent it, and then wanted a further $3000. The $1200 was only for the paperwork, the further 3000 was for the plane ticket.
I kept asking her I need to hear your voice and talk on Webcam. She could do neither.
I sent an email to her Sergeant asking to return the money, with no reply. A valuable lesson learnt.
Hope you’ve made sense of this because I’m still scratching my head.
Whoever reads this, please be careful out there and find love in the country that you live in, not abroad.
