After my own experience with a romance scammer, I decided to conduct an experiment by talking to real-time romance scammers from two fake accounts of mine. The result was a book!
However, I also wanted my own website where I can educate, raise awareness, warn and support others. That was the birth of Fake Love…

Scam Education
This is really—I mean really—important to educate and warn anyone who may be a victim of this crime before the scammers get their hands on them. Because they will be using psychological tactics to manipulate their victims and the moment this process starts, it is very difficult to see things clearly or even know what’s being done to you. So, the best thing is to arm yourself with knowledge and learn from others’ experiences. Just remember, your only protection is education. At the end of the day, prevention is better than cure.
Change the Narrative Surrounding Romance Scams
I work closely with anti-scam advocates and we’re trying to change the narrative around victim blaming. There is this notion that people who fall for romance scams are stupid or not so good-looking but this notion couldn’t be further than the truth. We need to remove the stigma about the victims and lay the truth bare. It’s only the ones who have been through this experience know that it has nothing to do with intelligence or looks. Nobody-I mean nobody—is immune. Romance scams could happen to anyone.
